At The Robinson House...We help ease the pain of homeless children
The plight of homelessness as described by a 13 year old homeless female student, who a month after writing this paper, along with her 5 siblings, was abandoned by her mother!
"I feel sadness, pain, anger, betrayal, confused, happiness, lonely, helpless, worried, scared and shocked... Sadness and confused when I wake up in the morning... wondering where I am. And realizing I am in a homeless shelter makes me sad. Sometimes, I want to cry but I can’t because I have to be strong for my sisters and brothers. Pain and betrayed is when I start to hurt bad on the inside because we have family and we are living in a homeless shelter... Anger and happiness is because of anger at the people here... But then happiness because I have a place to eat, sleep, wash up... And we’re not one the streets. Lonely and worried is when at night I feel that there is no one there for us and worried that it’s true."
"Scared and shocked is when I go to church and not wanting to sit in church... And I start to think that I gave up on God and it scares me... Helpless is when I start to wonder if God will ever help us out of this. And I understand it. We have to try to help ourselves out. But the main part is that for us kids to help each other and for Him to get through to my mother’s heart."
This child's mother may not have opened her heart but The Robinson House opened it's doors and it's heart to provide a safe place to learn, grow, and heal!

Program Overview
The Robinson House is a not for profit, community based organization that provides resources, educational services, & life skills training to children ages 7-15 who are homeless.
Mission Statement: To teach each student the basic principles and life skills that they need in order to become successful, productive students who engage in positive social interaction among their peers and in their community
At The Robinson House, we define homeless children as children who not only live in homeless shelters, but in hotels and extended stay lodges, or who have no other place to live. We also service children who live with court appointed foster parents or with friends and relatives other than their birth parents because of some extenuating circumstance such as parents losing their jobs, unfit living environment, parent(s) being incarcerated, or being abandoned by their parents.
